It seems the upsides are endless! If you and your family love a quality PB&J… Look no further! This recipe is free of any junk ingredients commonly found in jellies and jams. It has added fiber and is also something you can likely make today, as the ingredients are common household ingredients! I am always looking to level up staple foods so many of us love and grew up on, and definitely am ALWAYS searching for foods my kids will love that are also good for them. Well with this one, here ya go! Enjoy comfort foods with this healthier jam recipe.
INGREDIENTS
•2c fresh or frozen berries of choice
•2 tbsp chia seeds
•juice of 1 lemon
(*optional fourth ingredient if your jam is tart - natural sweetener like maple syrup, date syrup or honey)
DIRECTIONS
Heat small saucepan over medium heat and add berries. Cook until softened and berries start breaking down.
Remove berries from heat and add lemon juice & chia seeds. Stir to combine.
Allow jam to cool to room temp, stirring every few minutes. Your jam will start to thicken as the chia seeds begin to absorb the moisture.
Store in a glass container for use!
This is a new staple in our home because… a 3 and 4 year old in the house means = PB&Js for life. The jams on the shelf just weren’t cutting it, so it was time to make our own.
